Evangeline Grey Butler

Evangeline was born in 1859. Evangeline was the child of George Butler and Josephine Grey. She died tragically. At the age of five she fell over the banisters of the top landing of the family home at Cheltenham and fell down onto the stone floor beneath. She died instantly. Evangeline passed away in 1864. The death had a lasting impact on her mother and is thought to have been the catalyst of her revolutionary work on social reform. This work started almost immediately after the death of Evangeline.
